Dr. Thomas M. Rocco, PhD

Provost, Hellenic American University, Athens Greece
Responsibilities: Chief Academic Officer, responsible for creating the infrastructures and culture for a new University, implementing strategic plan of the University, oversight of faculty and curriculum development, faculty performance, budgeting and expenditures.

June 2004-August 2005
Vice President, Collegiate Enterprise Solutions, Peabody, Massachusetts, USA
Responsibilities included consulting services for a variety of higher education institutions and enterprises, especially those involving new programs or the foundations for new institutions, developing business plans, multi-state program registrations and interface with accrediting and state over-sight bodies.

August 2001-June 2004
President, Granite State College (College for Lifelong Learning), Concord, N.H. Responsibilities included chief executive officer of a distributed, multi-campus public college for 4000 adult learners, distant learning programs, intensive business education programs, on-site collaborations with companies and agencies.
As president, I also served on the board of trustees of the University System of New Hampshire, which has policy responsibility for the four institutions in the System. I was also on the Post Secondary Education Commission of NH, serving as chair during 2003-2004.

August 1998-August 2001
President, Leadership Institute of Seattle (Washington State)
Responsibilities included: chief executive officer for an institute with graduate and undergraduate programs in Leadership, Organizational Behavior, Systems Theory, and Counseling Psychology; concurrently, dean of the School of Applied Behavioral Science and member of the Board of Trustees of Bastyr University. Chairman of the Board and acting president of the Leadership Consulting Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of LIOS.

July 1983 – August 1998
Dean, Empire State College, SUNY. During this time, my responsibilities changed from executive direction of one ESC center to two in Western New York, with a combined student body of about 2200 adult students, and finally to Senior Dean on the president’s cabinet, with a portfolio including business programs, international programs, and government agency contract programs. Awarded tenure as a faculty member in 1994.

May 1974-August 1976 and May 1977-July 1983
Associate Dean, School of New Resources, College of New Rochelle. Responsibilities evolved from management of independent studies and curriculum for a single campus through the creation and oversight of an interdisciplinary core program (NEH funded) for all seven campuses and sites, to associate dean overseeing the staffing, curriculum and evaluation of academic programs for 3500 adult students at 7 campuses throughout New York City and lower Westchester County, NY.

August 1969-May 1974 and August 1976-May 1977.
Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies, University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire; Responsibilities included developing and teaching courses in Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy, History of Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, and similar areas. Served on Arts and Sciences Curriculum Committee, Task Force on the Status of Women, and many other department, school and university committees. Awarded tenure in 1973.
