Collegiate
Enterprise Solutions, LLC (CES) is managed
by its founders -- George J. Matthews, Dr. Bryan
E. Carlson, and Dr. William D. Abbott.
George Matthews served as a Trustee at
Northeastern University from 1978 through 1999,
and was Chairman of the Board for his last 10
years of service. A well-known entrepreneur, he
has been instrumental in founding over thirty
business ventures. In addition to serving as Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer of CES, he is currently
the Chairman of the Gorbachev Foundation of North
America, which he founded with the former President
of the Soviet Union, Mikhail S. Gorbachev; is
cofounder of and serves on the Executive Committee
of the Club of Madrid, which is an international
resource center for the formation and support
of democratic nation states; he is the Managing
Director of Hickory Hill Advisors, LLC, a venture
capital firm.
Dr. Carlson served for 23 years as President
of Mount Ida College, and brought that institution
through a period of extraordinary financial growth,
enrollment expansion, and academic transformation.
Mount Ida grew from a small junior college into
the leading TWO-PLUS-TWO baccalaureate college
in the northeast. Subsequently, Dr. Carlson has
served as president of four different entities
in the higher education sector including the New
England Exchange for Executive Leadership (NEXEL)
and College Bound Selection Service (CBSS). In
addition to his current role as President and
Chief Operating Officer of CES, he is President
of the Registry for College and University Presidents--the
nation's premier interim presidential service,
and is also a Senior Consultant for R.H. Perry
& Associates in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Abbott was raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania
at the Milton Hershey School for Orphaned Boys.
He eventually went on to earn four degrees including
a doctorate from Boston University, and to serve
as President of Ricker College in Houlton, Maine.
Dr. Abbott also served as Vice President of Administration
for the Boston Breakers (USFL), and as Director
of Criminal Justice Education for the Sheriff
of New Orleans, Louisiana. Upon his return to
New England, he served as a Director of Development
at Northeastern University, and subsequently he
was responsible for the establishment of the Executive
Alumni Forum, which IS an exclusive membership
organization for over 300 Northeastern alumni
