Leadership Team

Collegiate Enterprise Solutions, LLC (CES) is managed by its founders -- Dr. George J. Matthews, Dr. Bryan E. Carlson, and Dr. William D. Abbott.

Dr. Matthews served as a Trustee at Northeastern University from 1978 through 1999, and was Chairman of the Board for his last 10 years of service. As the current Chairman Emeritus, he is the University's senior advisor to the Board Chair and the President. A well-known entrepreneur, he has been instrumental in founding over thirty business ventures. In addition to serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CES, he is currently the Chairman of the Gorbachev Foundation of North America, which he founded with the former President of the Soviet Union, Mikhail S. Gorbachev; he serves on the Executive Committee of the Club of Madrid, which is an international resource center for the formation and support of democratic nation states; he is the Managing Director of Hickory Hill Advisors, LLC, a venture capital firm; and he is the Chairman of Pinnacle Training Corporation.

Dr. Carlson served for 23 years as President of Mount Ida College, and brought that institution through a period of extraordinary financial growth, enrollment expansion, and academic transformation. Mount Ida grew from a small junior college into the leading TWO-PLUS-TWO baccalaureate college in the northeast. Subsequently, Dr. Carlson has served as president of four different entities in the higher education sector including the New England Exchange for Executive Leadership (NEXEL) and College Bound Selection Service (CBSS). In addition to his current role as President and Chief Operating Officer of CES, he is President of the Registry for College and University Presidents--the nation's premier interim presidential service, and is also a Senior Consultant for R.H. Perry & Associates in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Abbott was raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania at the Milton Hershey School for Orphaned Boys. He eventually went on to earn four degrees including a doctorate from Boston University, and to serve as President of Ricker College in Houlton, Maine. Dr. Abbott also served as Vice President of Administration for the Boston Breakers (USFL), and as Director of Criminal Justice Education for the Sheriff of New Orleans, Louisiana. Upon his return to New England, he served as a Director of Development at Northeastern University, and subsequently he was responsible for the establishment of the Executive Alumni Forum, which IS an exclusive membership organization for over 300 Northeastern alumni CEOs.
